Wedding Invitation

The goal of this project was to create a set of wedding invitations in our own style. There were five components that were necessary in creating this project which were the main invite, save the date, rsvp, directions and the thank you card. I went through many different styles when creating this piece. At first I had a combination of a theater and movie theme, but they just weren’t working together. So I decided to go with the movie theme that I was going for in my original thumbnail. This project took a lot of time but I am really happy about the way it all came together.

Graphic Novel

The assignment for this project was to create a 2 page spread of a graphic novel. To create this I used My own pictures along with effects on photoshop and put it all together in InDesisn. This project took many steps along the way to complete by starting with thumbnails and roughs and ending with the final product. Although this project took a lot of time and effort to do I enjoyed making it.

Redesigned Book Sleeve Project

For this project i had to find a children’s book that I liked. Then I had to think of a way to change the sleeve of it with a new design. With many days of creating thumbnails and thinking of new creative designs I chose two designs to work off of. After the days of thumbnails I moved onto creating rough drafts of those thumbnails and had them critiqued by my class members. After the critiques I moved onto the final. While creating it I had to keep in mind that my book had to be in the same style as the original book. To meet this goal I used the images from inside the actual book and this is how it came out.

 

CD Cover

 

This was one of my earlier projects. The goal was to take a known music group and remake one of their CD covers. This project was a lot of fun to do because there’s really weren’t any restrictions only that it had to fit in the template that was provided. So I went with and AC DC cover that I thought would be cool to remake and it was.

Initials and Numbers

This was a small and quick project. Although it was a simple task I changed the letters and number from their normal positions and rotated them creating movement across the design.

Movie Poster

This project was to create a movie poster. To do so we were put in groups and given a genre to create a poster for. The process for this was very long. First we came up with a movie plot to base our design off of. The we created thumbnails and talked as a group what we liked and thought we could put together. Then the creation began on the computer and went through many critiques to finally come out like this.

Superior Magazine Advertisement

 

The goal of this project was to find an advertisement in a magazine that was not so good and remake it so that mine is superior. I decided to go with a car advertisement that I knew I could make better. I used my own pictures to get the right angle of the car that I wanted. Then I used Photoshop to cut it out and add a “metal stamp” on the advertisement to add the car vibe. Throughout this project I changed my color scheme a lot and finally decided with silver/gray and red. I really enjoyed making this piece.

Color Theory

Reversible Figure Ground

 

 

The goal of this project was to create two different shapes that can be considered reversible figure ground. This means that the black and white can both be the background or the shape. I first started with a sketch of the shapes that I wanted to do. Once I had those shapes I outlined them in sharpie then painted them with guasha. Then I scanned them into the computer and used adobe illustrator to create the final.
